LOODS
Since relocating to London in 2018, Loods has delivered a string of high-impact releases across a range of labels. These include three records on longtime friend Mall Grab’s Steel City Dance Discs label, summer anthem ‘Walking Away’ on Classic Music Company (Annie Mac’s Hottest Record), a collaborative project with dance music icon A-Trak, peak-time Italo burner ‘Pure Bliss Meltdown’ (Pete Tong’s Essential New Tune), the Gummi EP on Patrick Topping’s Trick Label, and ‘Riviera’ on Club Sweat, an ode to 2000s house that heavily frequented music ID forums prior to its release. All of this set against the backdrop of extensive touring throughout the UK, Europe and Australia, mixes for Rinse FM, NTS and Triple J, and numerous remixes for artists like Pete Tong, Purple Disco Machine, Flight Facilities, and plenty more, Loods is primed to soar in 2023.
Surusinghe
Fresh off of her breathtaking debut EP ‘GOOD GIRLS // BAD GIRLS’; a collection of sounds that were described by DAZED as “a solid statement from a producer with a talent for the percussive side of club music”, and ultimately resulted in the artist being named in the NME 100 ‘Essential Emerging Artists 2023’ list, Surusinghe has committed another crime of sound, with ‘Likshot’. ‘Likshot’ is the latest single from the Aussie prodigy, taken from her forthcoming EP, ‘Get Flutey’; a project that the artist describes as the “progression of [her] sound after 2 years back in the clubs.” Speaking about the EP, Surusinghe explains that she “wanted to create something that demonstrated the influences that have inspired [her] the most.” ‘Get Flutey’ is therefore “a testimony to the new and old sounds” that the artist “loves”.
Jasper Tygner
Emerging but already supported by industry tastemakers, live artist/producer Jasper Tygner releases his multi-faceted four-tracker ‘Real Time’ in full on February 23rd on alt-electronic imprint LG105 (home of Mall Grab, Effy, Steel City Dance Discs). The EP follows his sold out debut live show in November (more to come this year..) and sets at Field Day, Zamna Tulum, Phonox and Village Underground. One of DMY’s ‘artists to watch 2023’ and Amazon Music’s ‘Ones To Watch’, multi-instrumentalist Londoner Tygner uses keys/piano/analog Moogs, drawing upon UK Garage, Jungle, Gorillaz, jazz, dubstep and film/TV influences for his own rich sound, honed since the age of 9 playing in jazz bands and orchestras. Supported heavily on BBC Radio by the likes of Jaguar, Pete Tong, The Blessed Madonna and Jack Sauners, Tygner also recently did guest mixes on Rinse FM, Foundation FM and Balaami. Gig-wise, he’s supported DJ Boring, Leon Vynehall, salute and O’Flynn.
Mafro
MAFRO makes emotional music that swings between melancholy and euphoria, inviting the listener in, and putting them at the centre of the story. Since the release of his debut EP, 2023’s Bloom, the North Londoner has blossomed as one of the UK’s most exciting new acts. He’s been named as “dance music’s next major breakthrough act” in the NME Top 100, and worked on agenda-shifting, Grammy-nominated collaborations with Diplo and TSHA. Drawing influence from crossover pioneers like SBTRKT, Jai Paul, and Jacques Greene, MAFRO delivers a woozy, free-flowing approach to melody that’s juxtaposed with impactful lyrics that generate space for tension and release. This is electronic music, but rather than being rooted deep in the club, it’s drifting on its vapours. Now, MAFRO invites you to breathe it in.
Effy
London-based producer and DJ Effy grew up in the north-west of England listening to the high energy sounds of artists like The Chemical Brothers and The Prodigy.
She was named as one of Pete Tong’s Rising Stars and has attained regular support on BBC Radio 1 and 6Music with Mary Anne Hobbs, Jack Saunders, Jaguar, and Danny Howard. Her debut EP Not What It Seems saw Effy stepping into the sonics she turns to when she DJs fueled with acid, rave and broken beats.
Already she has played at iconic venues and festivals across the globe such as Fabric, The Warehouse Project, Amnesia Ibiza, Printworks and has toured throughout Australia, New Zealand and Japan. With 2023 welcoming more releases and exciting collaborations to come.
GIULIA TESS
Italy-born London-based DJ and producer Giulia Campanella pulls the sonority of leftfield electronica into the side of percussive music in a refreshing and effortless way. Codifying the variety of influences trapped within Giulia Tess is like a journey through a maze: challenging, thrilling and yet, rewarding in the end. She started her musical exploits by first banging on the drums, she then shifted the weight and hunger of new vibrations to the decks of the local clubs of the east coast of the Bel Paese. Her musical range is wide and eclectic with influences including jungle, dancehall, Southern Italian music, trance perfectly blended with techno and leftfield house, creating her own unique and versatile style.
ROSS FROM FRIENDS
Ross From Friends, AKA British producer Felix Clary Weatherall released his keenly anticipated second album ‘Tread’ in October 2021 via Flying Lotus’ Brainfeeder imprint. An artist who demonstrates an ever-increasing mastery of his craft, ‘Tread’ is a record that is at once sleek and melodic but also eminently danceable, nostalgic but brilliantly modern, with nods to sounds and styles that are not so much reflected but refracted and recontextualised through Clary Weatherall’s lens.
In 2021, Clary Weatherall launched his own label Scarlet Tiger via LG105 as an outlet for releasing his own productions alongside “friends and folk I’ve met online over the years”, marking the inaugural release with his own ‘Burner’ single, followed by EPs from Giulia Tess and RFF band mate Cameo Blush.
KETTAMA
Fresh from the debut release on his own Galway based imprint G-TOWN records, the Irish producer continues to go from strength to strength as he amasses a worldwide reputation as being one of the consistent producer/ djs in dance music today. With releases on R&S records, Shall Note Fade, 17 steps, Houndstooth and Homage as well as a collaboration record with Partiboi69, KETTAMA has secured his position as one of the most exciting names in underground dance music. Kettama hits the road again with four headline dates across the UK under his G-TOWN records banner.
MALL GRAB
First emerging onto the electronic scene in 2015, Mall Grab is incredibly well respected in industry, renowned for his ability to traverse genres across his hi-energy DJ sets. His style has evolved over the years, building from the emotional club music through which Mall Grab first broke through, to more blistering and bass-filled electro and techno. Last year he dropped his most divergent release so far in collaboration with Baltimore hardcore punk unit Turnstile for the remix EP Share a View, and this year sees Mall Grab working on his most ambitious project to date -his debut album, that will assimilate all these styles into one coherent record.
Looking for Trouble, Mall Grab’s imprint label is marketing and distributed by LG105.
